Tina Michels
Tina recently relocated to Keller, Texas following her husband’s career move to start with a company in Grapevine. Her previous 6 years were spent in beautiful Northwest Arkansas where she was the Lead Massage Therapist at Wellquest Medical Spa. It was at Wellquest where Tina was successful in developing a medical massage program and was voted one of the “Top 3 Must Have Massage Therapists” in Northwest Arkansas by the readers of Celebrate Magazine.
Educated in and originally from Canada, Tina is an accomplished and experienced massage therapist. After completing Nursing school in 1999 Tina realized that modern medicine was not the approach she wanted to take to helping others heal. It left her feeling like she only applied a band aid to the problem with meds and pain killers. After discovering her love for equine massage while riding horses competitively, Tina found her passion in natural medicine and enrolled directly into a 2 year medical massage therapy school in Toronto.
With both Modern and Natural medicine education it gave her the experience, knowledge and background to approach and treat numerous injuries and conditions naturally and pain free. After massage therapy school, Tina began her practice in Windsor, Ontario along side two Chiropractors where she continued to promote the natural health whenever available to her clients.
Since sport therapy is her passion she has had the opportunity to treat numerous injuries along with high profile athletes from Olympic track and field, NFL, NHL, and semi-pro beach volleyball.
Tina’s approach to medical massage therapy has always been by addressing and treating the presenting symptoms but looking beyond to find the cause and help correct the problem though a variety of techniques.
Tina specializes in Swedish and Non-Swedish techniques including myofascial release, neuro-muscular therapy, myofascial trigger point therapy, active release techniques, deep tissue massage, joint mobilizations, reciprocal inhibition stretching, and manual lymphatic drainage.
She also recognizes the fact that sometimes you just need a good relaxation massage with some hot stones to de-stress!!
